Itinerary

  • Typical of London's cityscape, Hampstead Underground Station is well worth a stop, for its architecture and history. Here, your Guide will go back to the origins of the Village.

  • After taking in Church Row, one of Hampsteadu2019s prettiest streets, lined with elegant buildings that have welcomed many distinguished guests over time, your Guide will tell you the story of St Johnu2019s Parish Church and some of the celebrities who lie in its cemetery.

  • Going up Holly Place, you will dive into the heart of the village, out of reach of the noise and bustle of the city.

  • After a brief ascent to reach Holly Mount, your efforts will be rewarded with the breathtaking panorama of Londonu2019s skyline.

  • Mansion houses or eccentric design, actors, celebrities of the press and literary, activists... Hampstead Village is full of historical anecdotes and architectural nuggets.

  • You will continue your architectural walk and immerse yourself in British history by walking the streets of this more secluded and confidential part of the Village. At the turn of its streets, you will meet an emblematic character of children's literature, an artist painter, an actress, architects... And many more!

  • Before entering the Heath, your Guide will talk about some troubled hours in English history: peasant rebellion, religious riots, highway bandits... This part of Hampstead has witnessed major historical events.

  • The Heath is a huge stretch of woodland and wild heathland that gives Hampstead Village its distinctive character. As an inspiration for artists and a place of healing for walkers, it is now extremely popular. And yet its ill-defined status will mean that its very existence will at some point in its history be threatened.

  • Here you will discover the past of Hampstead spa town, and the stories of iconic figures who lived or stayed there: painters, activists, writers, spies, architects...
