The garden was laid out in accordance with the classical layout around the Nemausus spring, spreading forth a supply of water that feeds pools and the canal. In the Gallo-Roman period, this area was the site of the baths, theatre and the temple of Diana which with its surrounding greenery makes for a romantic backdrop.

The Roman amphitheatre (or arena) in Nu00eemes is the best-conserved of the Roman world.nThe monument was turned into a fortress in the Middle Ages, forming a refuge for the population in case of danger. The inner part was later filled by private houses until the nineteenth century. In 1809, houses, chapels and the chateau of the viscounts of Nu00eemes were demolished to give the monument its initial appearance.nnToday, the amphitheatre forms a fine venue for many occasionsu2014bullfights, congresses, concerts and sports events.
Uzu00e8s is listed as a 'City of Arts and History'. You will discover its great many riches as you wander the streets of Uzu00e8s: 12th century Fenestrelle tower, 11th century tower Bermonde and the Duke castle.
