Although much fighting took place around the former hospital, the hospital itself was spared due to its function.
Just around the corner form the St. Elisabeth Hospital, you will find the Uruqhart House. This is the house where Major-General Urquhart took shelter. It's also a famous scene in the 'A Bridge Too Far' movie where the General is played by Sir Sean Connery.
The only old gate in the city that is left 'in tackt'. It was heavily damaged during the Battle of Arnhem but was rebuild after ww2. A true gem.
