The Park forests are home to over 37 species of bird, 8 of which are endemic to Fiji. This includes the Fiji Bush Warbler, Fiji Goshawk, Many Coloured Fruit Dove and the Fiji White- Eye. The Park also holds much archeological significance with clues to manu2019s first arrival in Fiji. An ancient burial site with over 50 individuals was uncovered during 1940s. Pottery shards and other cultural materials were also found within the park which presented possible connections with Lapita culture from New Caledonia.

Located on the western side of Viti Levu, the site is one of the six-gun batteries installed during the WWII for the deference of Fiji against possible invasion by the Japanese.
