Start early in the morning, drive to the charming city of Keren.nnExplore the charming city of Keren that was once a favorite resort for European visitors because of the temperate climate and fertile soil, and a place where the decisive battles of WWII carried out between the British and the Italians. nnSome of the things to see in Keren include the colorful Mondayu2019s market including camel market, souvenir and jewelry market etc, the famous Mariam Dearit inside a Baobab, the British and Italian cemeteries of World War II, the old Railway Station from 1930u2019s, the 19th century Tigu Egyptian Fort, St. Antony Romanesque Church, the old Mosque, etc.
After breakfast, drive to port city of Massawa via the zigzag highway through mountains and valleys, with stops on the way.nnMassawa regarded by many as u201cthe city of Islandsu201d and u201cthe Pearl of the Red Seau201d is Eritreau2019s major port.nnMassawa possesses exquisite Turkish, Egyptian and European architectures, shopping arcades, delicious seafood and the 1000 year old Shafi Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in Africa believed to have been built by the 1st Hejira to this area.
