Overview

On this amazing sightseeing tour from Flåm on a minivan with a private driver-guide, you will explore the natural wonders of the Norwgian Fjord landscape are – inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage list.

You will first stop at Stalheim hotel to enjoy the view of the stunning Nærøydalen valley, then take a drive down the Stalheimskleiva hairpin turn road and walk up close to the Stalheimsfossen waterfall, before coming to the charming village of Gudvangen.

In Gudvangen you can to witness the gorgeous Nærøyfjord – one of the two UNESCO World Heritage fjords. Here you can also visit a real modern day Viking Town (optional).

After Gudvangen, on to the famous Stegastein viewpoint above the Aurlandsfjord. In Aurland village, you can also visit the local Glass workshop (optional).

Duration of the tour: 4-4.5 hours. You may choose to either visit the Viking town or the Aurland Glass workshop, or none of the two – and have more time to soak up the natural beauty of the western fjords.

Itinerary

  • Starting out from port in Flu00e5m, where you private driver-guide meets you and takes you away from the hustle and bustle of the busy cruise ship destination.nBefore your trip starts, the guide will you to Flu00e5m enbankment and show / recommend places to go and things to do in Flu00e5m. Flu00e5msbana Museum u2013 dedicated to the famous Flu00e5m railway u2013 is one of the places you could visit after the tour.nYour tour starts: First, going by car via Gudvangen to Stalheim hotel.

  • Arriving at the Stalheim hotel, and visiting the terrace for a stunning view of the Nu00e6ru00f8ydalen valley (the UNESCO World Heritage list) we will see Stalheimskleiva road u2013 hairpin turns and mesmerising views of two waterfalls on both side of the road.

  • Stalheimsfossen waterfall is one of the 2 waterfalls on each side of the hairpin turn road Stalheimskleiva (the road is closed for car traffic). We can take a short walk to come closer to the waterfall. Stalheimsfossen is 126 meter / 413 feet tall.

  • After breathing in the freshness of the waterfall, your next stop is in the ancient Viking village of Gudvangen, where the spectacular Nu00e6ru00f8yfjord begins (also in the UNESCO World Heritage list). You can choose to extend your stop in Gudvangen by visiting the Viking town of Njardarheimr, where you can meet the real modern day Vikings and learn about their history and culture. The visit is optional and the entrance fee is not included in the price (adults: 21 EUR / 25 USD, children: 10.5 EUR / 12.5 USD). We can spent some extra time (30 minutes) in the Viking town by forfeiting the stop in Aurland.

  • From Gudvangen your guide drives your to the Stegastein viewpoint at 2130 feet (650 m) above sea level, from where you can marvel at the view of the Aurlandsfjord.

  • From Stegastein viewpoint we take road down to Aurland u2013 local administrative center. Here you can visit the Aurland Glass workshop: an excursion to a local glassbloweru2019s work place and a chance to blow your own glass ball. This visit is optional and the entrance fee is not included in the price. The workshop is open Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm.

  • After Aurland the driver takes you back to Flu00e5m, where the tour ends. nnDuration of the whole tour: approximately 4,5 hours. You may choose to either visit the Viking town or the Aurland Glass workshop, or none of the two u2013 and have more time to soak up the wonderful nature of the western fjords.
