Gu00f6reme, whose name is mentioned as 'Korama' in a document from the 6th century, was a cemetery region during the Roman period. In the 11th to 13th centuries, it became a very important religious center for Christians. This information was originally published in 1985 by UNESCO, which entered the World Heritage List. The Gu00fcllu00fcdere Valley in Gu00f6reme gets its name from its rocks that change color with the season and weather conditions and turn red and rose with the sunlight. Watching the reflection of the sunset on the fairy chimneys while sitting cross-legged on the rocks has become a Cappadocia travel tradition for this reason.
