Within one active day, you can visit Zakagori Fortress, Keterisi Monastery and several natural monuments, such as travertine formations, Abano Mineral Lake and Keterisi Canyon. Itinerary
This is the most beautiful valley in Georgia. Truso Valley is a magical place with magnificent mineral springs, a rapid river, and natural u201cpoolsu201d. The trail starts and ends in the village of Okrokana, which is 25 km from Stepantsminda. We will go there by 4x4 car from our office. We will return in the same way.
We will do a delightful trek (22 km of the flat trail) through the Kasari Canyon, the abandoned village Ketrisi and two monasteries to the Zakagori Fortress near the border with Russia, where the Georgian military base is located.
We do a picnic near a natural u201cpoolu201d. We will meet many shepherds and their herds. This trekking is easy, but it is a long day (22 km and 7 h in total), so you have to be fit enough. You should take water and snacks. You must be prepared for changeable weather. Bring a jacket and something in case it rains. You must also have trekking shoes. The time spent in the car is 1 hour and the trekking time is 7 hours.
