After pick-ups, we convene at FNB Soccer Stadium onnthe outskirts of Soweto. Meet your guide and listen to anshort explanation of the famous soccer stadium and thenrole it played in Sowetou2019s history.
We set off to the heart of Soweto, driving pastnBaragwanath Hospital, an enormous taxi rank and thenhistoric suburb of Diepkloof
Our first stop in Soweto is at Motsoaledi informal settlement. Walk through the streets with your guide past street cafu00e9s and craftnmarkets to a community centre that MoAfrika sponsors.nGreet and meet the people in the settlement and learnnmore about their way of life.
We continue on through Orlando West to the hub ofnSoweto. We stop outside Regina Mundi Church andnFreedom Square for a quick overview
The Hector Pieterson Museum is a large museum located in Orlando West, Soweto, South Africa, two blocks away from where Hector Pieterson was shot and killed 16 June 1976.
We make our way down the vibrant Vilakazi Street,npast iconic monuments and the homes of Nelson andnWinnie Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
Time permitting, you have the option of stopping at NelsonnMandela Museum for a visit (own cost)
The morning ends at a popular restaurant at the base of the massive Soweto Towers. Enjoy a traditional meal of u2018shisa nyamau2019 and visit the craft market. If youu2019re keen, you can bungee jump off the top of the towers (own cost and time permitting).
We visit the world famous Apartheid museum where you will learn about the history of South Africa and the struggle of its people during the apartheid era
