Meet your guide at your accommodation in Sofia and begin with a guided introduction to the Bulgarian capital. Explore the historic center and see some of Sofiau2019s best-known landmarks, including Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, St. Sofia Church, the Russian Church, the Presidency, the Largo, the ancient remains of Serdica and the Rotunda of St. George.
Continue to Boyana Church, located at the foot of Vitosha Mountain. This UNESCO World Heritage site is celebrated for its remarkable medieval frescoes and is one of Bulgariau2019s most important cultural monuments.
After the visit, travel south through the scenic countryside toward the Rila Mountains. On arrival at Rila Monastery, enjoy a guided tour of the monastery complex and learn about its history, architecture, religious importance and role in preserving Bulgarian culture.nThere will be time for lunch in the Rila area before returning to Sofia in the late afternoon.
