Itinerary
The Cabo de la Vela Tour starts from Riohacha at 8:30 am, heading north towards the high Guajira desert. Along the way, we'll pass through Uribia, known as the indigenous capital of Colombia, where you'll be able to appreciate many handicrafts from the Wayu00fa culture.
Afterwards, we will visit Manaure (the largest salt complex in Colombia) where we will observe the salt extraction process, learning more about this important activity for the region.
Next, we'll head toward our destination, Cabo de la Vela, arriving in the early afternoon for lunch and our first interaction with the desert-sea ecosystem. We'll visit the spectacular Playa Dorada and walk to the lighthouse, a panoramic viewpoint from which to watch the sunset. Finally, we will arrive at a typical Wayuu hotel (rancheru00eda), where we will have dinner and spend the night in hammocks.
Early in the morning we will have a delicious breakfast and then visit Pilu00f3n de Azu00facar beach. We will also climb a small mountain to have a beautiful view of the desert and the sea of Cabo de la Vela.
Later, we will return to the accommodation for lunch and finally return to Riohacha.
