  • A short drive brings you to its u201ctwinu201d monastery, Haghpat, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and another jewel of Armenian medieval architecture. Founded by Queen Khosrovanuysh of the Bagratuni dynasty, Haghpat is remarkable for its massive stone domes, finely carved khachkars (cross-stones), and peaceful atmosphere. Surrounded by misty mountains and overlooking the Debed River gorge, it perfectly captures the harmony between Armenian spirituality and the natural world.
