The guided tour will take you through Diepkloof Extension; We stop to view and to share information about the family units,a wonderful project initiated by the late President Mandela, with an aim of giving decent homes to hostel dwellers. nThe tour proceed, we pass Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital, the biggest hospital in Southern Africa and the third largest hospital in the world.nThe distinctive colorful land mark Orlando Towers attracts most travelers to take pictures and to learn as our knowledgeable tour guides shares information.nThe towers were cooling towers for the coal run power station supplying electricity to Johannesburg.n The station was closed in 1998, and transformed into,sporting,entertainment and business center in 2008.nThe towers are used by businesses to advertise their products. Hector Pieterson memorial museum commemorates the lives of students who lost their lives, fighting for their rights in 1976, under police brutality.nThe museum also depicts events of 1976 students uprisings and the general struggle for democracy in South Africa.nEntrance is Optional.nLocal vendors by the museum are selling curios,beaded work, artefacts and African clothing.nWe give you time to browse the flea market incase there is a need.
The vibriant Vilakazi street is the Popular attraction in Soweto for both locals and International guests.nThe houses of the two Nobel Prize winners former President Mandela and Archbishop Emeritus Tutu are situated on this street.nSakhumzi restaurant is also situated on this street close to Tutu's house.nThe restaurant is serving great South African cuisine buffet lunch in the form of dumplings, rice,mealie porridge (pap), Samp and sour Sorghum porridge.nOther appetising meals served include ,Beef stew, Chicken,Sausages( braai wors )Vegetables, Salads including the popular local salad Chakalaka and desert.nLunch is optional.Please indicate to your guide incase you need to have lunch
We visit the house of the World icon, late President Mandela situated in Vilakazi street.nEntrance and guided tour included.nMandela lived in this house with his family before his life imprisonment. nThe museum house provides an effective, efficient and meaningful experience to all visitors, informing them of the former President Nelson Mandela's story in the context of his life as a whole, in a manner that promotes Human rights, Democracy, Reconciliation, Mutual respect and tolerance amongst the people of South Africa and International community.
