Itinerary
The Temple of Garni is the only standing Greco-Roman colonnaded building in Armenia and the former Soviet Union. Built in the Ionic order, it is located in the village of Garni, in central Armenia. It is the best-known structure and symbol of pre-Christian Armenia.
Garni Gorge is very popular among tourists visiting this place to see the natural rocks of amazing beauty, which are known as the u201cSymphony of Stonesu201d or u201cBasalt organu201d.nnThe rocks have the appearance of long vertical pillars of hexagonal shape, which is associated with the church organ. Huge stone pillars are located at a height of about 50 meters above the ground.nnIt is assumed that the u201cSymphony of Stonesu201d is the result of the collapse of volcanic rocks, which are not excluded today. In this regard, it is recommended to admire the natural phenomenon at a safe distance.
Geghard is a medieval monastery in the Kotayk province of Armenia, being partially carved out of the adjacent mountain, surrounded by cliffs. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with enhanced protection status.
